The inability to sleep at night, insomnia, affects around twenty percent of people in the US. Among the elders this increases to around thirty percent. Those affected by it can suffer other physical effects from the affliction such as hypertension and accidents due to this.

A recently concluded research study has now established that there exists a surprisingly easy answer for people who suffer from insomnia.

Try to reduce the amount of time that you spend in bed.

Pat many years or even snc past three decades as a result of several researches conducted and concluded  into the subject of sleep it has been found that cognitive behavioural therapy just as good an answer to having a good nights sleep as popping a pill. The problem is the cost involved in this type of treatment. The therapy needed to be conducted by a trained psychologist over the course of between six and eight, one hour sessions. Obviously this course can run into hundreds of Dollars compared to the comparatively minimal cost of pills.

This latest study shows that almost seventy nine people over the age of seventy nine who were chronic sufferers of insomnia were either given written material to read or had two therapy sessions, one of an hour and then a half hour follow up. The information given was how to plan time so that less time was spent in bed, the importance of keeping a regular sleep schedule as well as the reasons why these things are important due to the body’s daily changes.

The results were very promising for those that suffer from sleepless nights as well as those with sleep apnea meaning that they do not actually sleep deeply enough.
